The world’s first 3LCD laser projector, the VPL-FHZ55, is helping medical teams across the Netherlands diagnose and collaborate faster, more efficiently and reliably.
St. Antonius Hospital is a specialist teaching hospital, well known for treating patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease as well as cancer. When a new building was opened in Utrecht, state-of-the-art VPL-FHZ55 laser projectors were chosen for all 22 of its meeting and handover rooms.
The VPL-FHZ55 was recommended by our partner, AVEX, as part of a secure image, audio and video solution that would integrate seamlessly into the hospital’s existing AV infrastructure. It provides highly detailed, bright image quality essential for medical analysis, as well as enabling ultra clear video-conferencing between the hospital’s five sites and external medical companies.
High brightness and contrast
By teaming a highly efficient laser light source with the latest 3LCD BrightEra panel technology, the VPL-FHZ55 produces an incredibly high 3,000 lumens brightness with excellent contrast. This makes it perfect for staff to share and analyse graphics, reports or x-ray images in exceptional detail. Superior picture quality also means specialists can discuss patient profiles and information quickly and efficiently, wherever they are, via video-conference.
Faster diagnoses and decisions
With around 5,500 staff, 548,000 outpatient appointments every year and 850 beds, St. Antonius, like any hospital, is an extremely time-pressured environment. The profound quality of 3LCD projection facilitates faster, reliable diagnoses and decision-making – a clear benefit for both patients and the hospital network.
Rutger Schaap, Presentation and Communication Group Channel Manager, Sony Europe, explained: “If a projector doesn’t reproduce an image with total clarity, the doctors’ precious time is simply wasted. The VPL-FHZ55 prevents such a problem from arising.”
Low total cost of ownership
Compared to conventional projectors the VPL-FHZ55 also represents a low total cost of ownership: a key factor for St. Antonius. The UHP lamp in a typical projector needs to be replaced after a few thousand hours at most, but the long-lasting laser light source will perform consistently for around 20,000 hours.
With no need for replacement lamps and exceptional durability, the VPL-FHZ55 saves St. Antonius the inconvenience and cost of downtime and maintenance. A synchronised 20,000 hour filter replacement cycle keeps the projector in peak operating condition, while energy-saving features like ‘instant power on and off’ also prevents valuable time from being wasted in meetings and consultations.
The VPL-FHZ55 fits smoothly into almost any environment – from academic institutions, corporate, medical and public sector organisations to visitor attractions and retail spaces. With the VPL-FHZ55, there are no limits to your creative freedom.
